It just goes to show how vulnerable all are to impersonation and identity assassination when participating in an open blog.

it seems so easy .. it must have been the uncharacteristic brevity of my comment that caused you to question the author's identity (unless it was, in fact, all tongue in cheek - kinda cute if it was).

My suggestion for dealing with this issue is for any poster who claims that his/her identity has been used to post a fraudulent comment to call you and ask to have it removed, once you are sure of the caller's identity, of course. Any poster unable to clearly identify themselves to you would remain vulnerable. Seems basic and uncomplicated enough to be easily workable.
