Anonymous' comment about Rae Days reflects the Toronto Sun mentality drummed into this poster's brain over the years.

Mike Harris fired about 20,000 civil servants. Was that better than Rae Days? Locally the Harris cuts cost us our driver's licence examining offices, our Port Hope hospital, Land Registry office and Family Benefits office which served all low incomes families on disability benefits throughout the entire County. Services were privatised if not eliminated, and rural areas like ours were decimated. I can't count how many of our local schools were closed in spite of community opposition.

The deficit the NDP created in the severe recession of the early 90s was nothing compared to what the Libs. have saddled us with now, and even that can be managed by re-directing resources at our disposal.

Of course that would take a government with courage, and we don't have one. I'd rather cast my vote with the NDP, there are still a few of them who understand what's required to create a sustainable system.

Meanwhile the libs and tories are virtually the same, the libs are just a little more sophisticated.

Talk about leaping to conclusions!Wanting to see Lou Rinaldi replaced as MPP certainly doesn't mean the next one has to be a tory. Just a better liberal would do, and we have plenty of those at the local level who understand the job means representing all the residents, not just the ones who agree with him or her.

Even better, let's try an NDP MPP. We have lots of local talent in that party too, if only people would give them a chance instead of applying all the misinformation fed to them by the mass media and choosing not to listen.

But a tory, hell no. That's the last thing we, or the Province, needs.

Oh Anonymous, what a tantalizing set of statements you make on behalf of our esteemed Member from NQW.

How proud you must be to associate yourself with the Member and defend their honour so gallantly!

If he could read basic sentences, I am sure the Member would be thrilled to learn (learning being something he has proven incapable of in the past few terms of office!) of your spirited defense of his lack of action and generally cowardly ability to hide behind staff and partisans like yourself.

Sorry that you are so hurt by the reality of political process, that people could in fact dare to disagree with what Daddy Dalton wants for us, because after all, Dalton and Lou haven't met a law they didn't like - perhaps they could figure out a law to (a) stop all of "us" from communicating about them in negative ways; and (b) stop people from complaining about the cuts to their healthcare.... wouldn't that be wonderful - well, for Lou and Dalton perhaps, not for those of us that are having our services cut though.

You see, you and your Libs have stirred something up here, and instead of taking the route of defending his riding, Lou chose to defend his government. Age old question - is he NQW's rep in Toronto, or Toronto's rep in NQW? Going on what Lou has had to say recently, pretty easy to see the reality.

As for your diatribe regarding how the Libs aren't as bad as the PC's - give us a break. Seriously - are you considering writing the Libs next election platform - vote for us - we're not as bad as the other guys.

For your information lets just kill the statement that the OHC wanted to meet Lou - why would they when they know as a result of many other instances local MPP of a Liberal stripe are not being allowed to meet with organised opposition - it may give them credibility. Local citizens wanted to meet with Lou
In the case of the local group here the majority of the participants have never heard of the OHC, they want to tell Lou to listen to local people not take orders from Party Central
BTW, the BurdReport has criticised politicians of all stripes but it seems that both Lou Rinaldi and Rick Norlock have th3e same fault - selective hearing. Dismissing members of the public as "interest groups" doesn't relieve them both of the duty to represent. If it did why do we bother to vote if nobody is going to represent?

The Tories history on health care and poverty are clear and historic fact in this riding and across the Province. Becareful what you wish Deb O you and your friends just might get Hudak and his ilk back.
Then you won't have to worry about a few small services being realigned as the hospital will be closed.

What Lou's article states is that he will meet with people who live in this riding and use our services here. Not high paid union lobbyists from TO and elsewhere.

The information that Lou will not meet Ms. Parks is pattently false.
Again the pathological hatred of Lou on this blog is clear.

You will not be getting an NDP or Green Member here but if you really, really think Hudak and crew are better than Lou than I certain hope you get your wish.

What I find so interesting is how gullible people are who read the C. Star is that truthfully what was said or what happened, are they always right, and Lou is always 100% wrong in everything he does and says.

Also for the record Deb O bringing money back to this riding fighting to get more than our share is a key job that many groups etc...appreciate that Lou has been able to do.

But you are right I am sure if Lou is voted out the new Conservative member here will be so kind and generous to your causes.

Remember Deb O a raise in your cherished welfare rates and ODSP rates every year since the " "Rat" Rinaldi took office in 2003 is alot better then the minumum %5 cuts automatically plus all the nasty pre welfare rules being brought back pre 2003 in Premier Hudak's first budget.

Oh an your cherished Union's you heard I am sure what Hudak said in his recent budget press conference. Dalton should have opened up all the unions for freezes etc..not just non contract that would have meant the precious nurses losing their 3% raise per annum.
Oh and for the record what groups or people has Lou in the past specifically turned away and not met with? Not the Poverty groups I can tell you that.
If you really care about the downtroddened and the Hospital then you would want Lou in rather than Hudak, his wife who was Mike' Harri's Chief of Staff you remember Mike H. Deb O Mikey is Hudak's biggest supporter and backroom guy who got him the leadership. Harris is like a second father to his protege Hudak.
Where do you think this will all lead??? Pontificating is one thing but think for a moment with John Tory out of the way what direction this Province will go in?
You are saying about special diet allowances? Hudak would cut that in a blink based on historic fact and he wouldn't even try to replace it with a penny. Remember the Omnibus Bill? No one is perfect but to continually try and portray Lou as some kind of heartless monster is farcical.

Finally we have an issue that just might reveal Lil Loo as the snivelling rat he really is. Many of the 200 or so supporters of the local health care coalition will be surprised, dismayed, then disgusted to realize they have inadvertently joined the ranks of the Banned and Disenfranchised of Northumberland, just by standing up for public health care.

You only have a voice with Loo when you're singing from the liberal hymn book and giving him lavish praise for his continued ability to draw his generous paycheque.

Time to toss him out, maybe we'll do better with the next one.
