In other words, tasers were to provide police an alternative in situations when firearms would otherwise be used.<br /><br />By this understanding, the use of tasers in the Vancouver airport incident was, by my understanding, dreadfully wrong. No police officer would have shot a person in those circumstances, so neither should they have used tasers.
