I'm referring to the fact that the O.P.P. is a blanket provincial force and as such can police, arrest, spot check, investigate etc. anywhere in this province. So, if the O.P.P. wants to succeed in what is to me at least and obvious corporate takeover they'd better not be thinking of actually charging for it.Merklin Muffleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05850284624604652178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-45192712566949562122009-12-14T15:07:41.934-05:002009-12-14T15:07:41.934-05:00Merklin, are you telling us that you live in the a...Merklin, are you telling us that you live in the annexed part of town that is serviced by the OPP, not the Port Hope police?once morehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10433743303662059155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-37869562331452921852009-12-14T09:28:08.291-05:002009-12-14T09:28:08.291-05:00Deb, I actually liked the notion that Delanty and ...Deb, I actually liked the notion that Delanty and Thompson had a joint committee on the issue of climate change, even though I had never heard of it. It can be found in the post about climate change, next one up.

To re-state my opinion briefly, it is that I am looking for Delanty and Thompson to show some leadership and get their committee back to work. Surely, as mayors, it is their job to make this work despite the disagreements.

Maybe they need to hire a skilled mediator to help things along, but most of all, they need the will to proceed.Deb Onoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-30858305380927971322009-12-12T08:25:33.179-05:002009-12-12T08:25:33.179-05:00The sheer inteligence-insulting stulidity of that ...The sheer inteligence-insulting stulidity of that Smokey The Bear nitwit Officer Cam Wooley, who The Media absolutely fawned over as if he actually knew anything and even though I can't recall a single one of his highway hair-raisers ever making it to court, should tell us all we need to know about the O.P.P.Merklin Muffleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05850284624604652178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-33900362532343658332009-12-11T20:57:28.045-05:002009-12-11T20:57:28.045-05:00Yep, bring in the O.P.P.

Not until we stop paying for these godamned self-glorifying media-hound cowboys in the first place. Got it? We already HAVE the O.P.P. and we're stuck with them. However, I do see that officers on these forces seem lack-lustre in their approach and that means they are not gaining in the "let's keep the local policing model" sweepstakes.

I feel cost will dictate that eventually the OPP will be in or some significant joint services effort will be in.

People are all nostalgic about their local boys until the burden on the tax part of their own wallet becomes onerous, which it already is, and obvious, which it does not seem to be to the majority as yet. But it's getting there.once morehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10433743303662059155noreply@blogger.com
