We don't take heritage matters seriously enough, on the broad scale of popular interests. To a significant extent, it seems to be relegated to a tourism-focused item. Home-grown pride is waning as the town grows through an inflow of new residents rather than a 'locally grown' population. Such an information item could help to restore or generate some of it.manfred schumannhttp://clearlyunclear.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-68805662743588768002009-07-30T15:38:54.672-04:002009-07-30T15:38:54.672-04:00No I didn't come to work at the Depot - Winche...No I didn't come to work at the Depot - Winchester, but i have a great affiliation for the plaque being fourth generation military. Perhaps relocating might be a good idea as the herotage does get lost rather like the cairn that the Queen erected. Maybe all of the local significantly heritagy thingys should go together in Vic Park that place seems to be being treated as a focal point.Ben Burdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06372169478978720740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-73625548957634521632009-07-30T14:52:04.627-04:002009-07-30T14:52:04.627-04:00Ben,

The people making this suggestion do not seem to realize that (1) the plaque is where it is because that's where the Depot was, (2) that whole area is still referred as "The Depot" by Cobourg people who have been here for a long time, and, (3) it will soon be more or less across the road from a buzzing site -- the new CC. Didn't you come to Canada to work ordinance there?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-81725190442911017762009-07-28T18:13:11.718-04:002009-07-28T18:13:11.718-04:00It's a tree.
