Are the tories really this clumsy or do they think we're all that stupid? It's incredible that they only waited a couple of days to back off this one. Surely the Roberts Rules of Manipulation stipulate that one must perpetuate the fraud for a decent length of time before graciously recanting in polite deference to "the people".

I am not only grossly insulted by Harper's inept games, I am grossly insulted that he thinks all of us are that dim witted.

So, late Friday afternoon, Canada's New Government DUMPS the whole idea of changing the words to Aw, Canada saying Canadians have spoken loudly and clearly and Canada's New Government has listened to the people.

What unadulterated horseshit from a horseshit bunch of horsethieves -our own beloved, though dim as a two-watt bulb, Rick Norlock first among horseshit equals.

Are we really going to fall from this? LOOK! LOOK OVER THERE! RIGHT THERE!!! UNDER THE WIRE!!! Why, it's retired Supreme Court Justice Frank Jacaboucci slipping in under the fog of a complete non-issue to bail out this bunch of lying, prevaricating, religious-zealot bigots excuse for a government and rescue the slimy bastards from any more embarassing questions about how we, the good guys, knowingly send Afghan prisoners for sub-contracted torture -the torture we used to do ourselves 'till somebody took pictures of Sidane Arone's beaten-to-a-pulp face held high by our "heroes".

I never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of overt patriotism and those who slavishly proclaim it as their personal piety. To imagine that Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast are so knuckle-dragging dumb that they have actually latched on to supposedly sexist lyrics in Oh! Canada! as an issue is beyond comprehension. But that's what we are at our core -a bunch of flag-waving hillbillies who just don't know any better. There we are, God love us all, hands on our bypassed hearts, standing in the cold, Horton's at the ready, waitng, waiting, waiting for the next dead kid to pass under the bridge, our Made-In-Taiwan Maple Leaf at the ready. God but it's pathetic. Nobody with the slightest bit of brain to stand up and say out loud "I DON'T SUPPORT THE TROOPS!" Nobody. Just a bunch of godamned lemmings too stupid to grasp that we're the bad guys.

The red herring of lyrics is all over the CBC, all over talk radio, all over the papers. And it doesn't mean a godamned thing. It's a classic Harper diversion and we're buying it. We're so happy to have the government say something our slow little brains can actually process that we think this goofiness somehow affects our lives. Well, lemme tell ya -it doesn't. And you know what? When next you get assaulted with another piece of crap from Rick Norlock, what do you think it's going to be about? Yep....it'll be one of his Grade 2 People's Polls asking you what YOU think of changing the words to our own little Deutschland Uber Alles. What garbage.

I am sickened by this budget. Used as a pitiful attempt to make us forget about the torture of Afghan detainees, it fails to deliver anything except to the tories' friends in high places.

Here are some facts from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: the 1% cut to GST will cost us 60 billion by 2013. The corporate tax cuts will cost a whopping 76 billion by then.

Reinstate those two cuts and we could not only eliminate the deficit but fund affordable housing and establish a national child care program along with enriching benefits for the needy of all ages.

Those are the kinds of breaks ordinary Canadians need, and if we would just provide them we would see employment and prosperity on the upswing.

Instead we get increased breaks for those who don't need them and a further tilt to the haves at the expense of the have-nots.

But hey, we're getting new words for the national anthem. Maybe the 810,000 unemployed whose benefits are due to run out in the next few months can learn the new version and make a buck singing it on street corners. Now there's innovation!
