Thank You for this! We could use a little more of the good family values I see at the park,,,,,,families out together at all generations and ages enjoying thier families favourite foods, games and fun, that is what a public park is for,,,,,,wish I saw more of my fellow cobourgians with their families enjoying what we have to offer.....and lets not forget the ever fragile retail economy in dire need of visitors as the locals head to big box stores. We need life in our downtown, we have life in our downtown and waterfront area, yes it gets a little crowded on long weekends and beautiful saturday afternoons.....and thank goodness for that. I have taken pictures for these visitors while walking by and have served them at a local restaurant...they like Cobourg....lets give them a chance!

I added a comment on someone else's blog about this comical farce and yet again was told to "go back to where I came from and to leave us alone."
As I do live within a couple of blocks from the beach, I do agree that it was busy. This is one weekend of possibly four in the entire year that gets like this. And the locals cannot use their precious beach ?? Come on... If you have been following some of my posts(@deannop) throughout the year I clearly define that the beach is hardly ever used by anyone. As I have walked that very beach almost daily since September, I know this to be not an exaggeration.

While I am in general agreement with the gist of Ben's tirade, I'm afraid I do draw the line at his idea of getting rid of the boulevards to accommodate more parking. The boulevards down many of Cobourg's streets are part of the town's charm. If we want to provide access to the beach for more people, then arrange parking elsewhere - perhaps in one of the school parking lots that are unused in the summer, and provide a jitney service to and from the beach.
