Apparently it only costs $10,000 to convert a mile of paved road into a gravel road, compared to $100,000 to re-pave it.

Interesting. When our own County Councillors start to contemplate that, we'll know we're in big trouble here too.Deb O'Connornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-23062682258137283672009-06-15T10:47:46.052-04:002009-06-15T10:47:46.052-04:00$2,000,000,000 worth of streetcars chugin' aro...$2,000,000,000 worth of streetcars chugin' around the city don't garner the same level of recognition as a building complex lasting 30 or 40 years with a big plaque out front pronouncing government largesse. Perhaps Cobourg is lucky that we have an MP and MPP from the respective ruling parties, but I cannot see how building the community (?) centre is going to provide much economic stimulus or job creation. In the case of TO the city really needs transportation improvements, and building such an amount of transportation vehicles and related infrastructure would have had a much greater positive economic and employment effects that would also extended to other parts of Ontario.Greg Hancocknoreply@blogger.com
