He will have enough of it just trying to figure out who likes him on any one day. You know as well as I do that there isn't thickskinned politician alive in the land. Peter's paranoia is of his own making and it would be cruel to add my contribution.Ben Burdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06372169478978720740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-41230906127400242352007-08-28T12:48:00.000-04:002007-08-28T12:48:00.000-04:00So Ben will you turn up to dunk the Mayor at the p...So Ben will you turn up to dunk the Mayor at the parish fair?
Dare you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-80446019513766088972007-08-26T11:47:00.000-04:002007-08-26T11:47:00.000-04:00The observation about how fixed election dates are...The observation about how fixed election dates are going to impact the campaigns is very intriguing. As you say most of the previous campaigns, and I know this intimately, have been hurried and seemingly unplanned, just responding to the writ being dropped. This time most of the parties have no plan and are still waiting for the writ to be dropped. I guess the backroom boys haven't figured out how to fiddle the rules yet. And the absence of rules seems to have made the locals apprehensive.

As to Delanty's public persona it must be stick with what you know and just turn up to go through the paces. The real sign of his boredom, especially if he doesn't intend to run again, will be the appearances of his deputy or his designated substitute at events in the future.Ben Burdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06372169478978720740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-55973228040289646452007-08-26T09:20:00.000-04:002007-08-26T09:20:00.000-04:00I saw a Galt sign on HIghway 30 near Warkworth. It appears her minions are busy.
Seeing as this is the first time for a fixed election date in modern political history, one would think a strategy would be carefully planned, checked, double-checked, to ensure no miscues or mistakes are made. Previous elections were often short, scrambled affairs with little time to organize.
It will be interesting to see how campaigns are handled in this context. Can those backroom experts with savvy at pulling together a brilliant campaign amidst the chaos of a old-style election be able to handle the plodding precision of a long-haul. I guess we will see.

Also, speaking of Delanty sightings, he was spotted at the Cobourg Library reading program celebration Saturday. Once the speeches were done with the endless "thanks", the prizes were handed out and cake was served. While the kiddies and parents enjoyed the treats, Delanty was talking with the chief librarian. His back was to the crowd the entire time. Normally, at past presentations, he interacts with the parents. What does this tell us?rwashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04120083910821033318noreply@blogger.com
