Every person who weighed in on this controversy was lilly white. Northumberland Today's, Pete Fisher focussed on his bigotry throughout the controversy -- and note that journalism 101 was just too much for him and them.

Did the newspaper ever interview a single visitor? NO. Did any of the bigotted whiners who wrote columns and letters to the paper go to the park to talk with The Visitors?

Well I went down and interviewed several of them, from everywhere. To a person they loved this park. Only one Visitor said it was ludicrous for the police to ask that their "tent" be uprooted. It wasn't meant for camping -- but for shade for 6 hours, for grandma and the infant to keep them from the sun.

(Meanwhile in another part of the park, the dead grass resulting from ribfest remains)

I was planning to make a video of it all, but my skills on freeware editing of video are not up to snuff to make a video as ambitious as I planned. I need more hours of self-taughtness.

But here is a 5-second splice of The Visitors displaying their regard to Cobourgers. Just click HERE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNSuoCejuIU

But go to uTube, search for `Cobourg beach` and up comes video clips taken by The Visitors themselves, and yes, some do come uptown. Here was one, set to music, made by a Visitor on the very weekend that offended the bigots of Corktown Cobourg. Soon as you let those bastards in everything else just goes for a shit. Why, before you know it they've set up everything from cookie-cutter British Shoppes (selling Golliwog Marmalade and On The Buses tapes) to ghastley waterfront french-fry wagons all a-swarm with wasps (the insect kind) palming off soggy Brighton Pier nostalgia-that-never-was.

Ain't-cha sick of 'em?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-40235290538004965912009-09-08T20:30:01.822-04:002009-09-08T20:30:01.822-04:00I to took a walk on the wild side Sunday aft. and ...I to took a walk on the wild side Sunday aft. and evening, what i noticed was a large number of out of towners (yep they where brown, black and i believe i saw a couple of green folk) I now understand how a person of another culture would feel uncomfortable in a all white society. The problem as i see it is fear of the unknown, for the most part the visitors are just like us, wanting to have a good time. At one point in the evening we came upon a sing a long. The town is not prepared for the number of visitors that is certainly part of the problem, more trash cans, more washrooms, and visible security. Hey Cobourg how about next summer at the beach, maybe stop and say hello to our guest, we did invite them. What may also be a thorn in our sides is the fact the beach area used to be a little oasis and we could always find our special spot, not so easy now. It is a small world and Cobourg is just discovering that fact.Jennifernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-79310093077306539422009-09-08T18:35:31.856-04:002009-09-08T18:35:31.856-04:00What I didn't put in the item was the number o...What I didn't put in the item was the number of older white people in cars just cruisin' the strip, no doubt reinforcing their prejudices.Ben Burdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06372169478978720740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-70196656625675355932009-09-08T17:14:21.434-04:002009-09-08T17:14:21.434-04:00I have often wondered if the Visitors are even awa...I have often wondered if the Visitors are even aware of the Tempest in a Tea Pot generated by the more backwards amongst us.

If they`re just cruising in and out for the day, how would they even know about any of this. All they`re looking for is a good day at the beach, not researching the Town`s current hot issues.

I would be ashamed to think they knew about all this foolishness when the solution is simply to add more garbage bins and possibly more staff to empty them.

Perhaps the folks who object so strongly to the presence of the Visitors should retire to a gated community somewhere in Florida where they can restrict their experiences to those with others exactly like them.

They would not be missed here.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
