If they went to a public school that my son attended, I wouldn't appreciate the daily disruption of the normal public school ambience.Wally Keelerhttp://cobourgtown.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-22669761881270569582009-02-10T18:18:00.000-05:002009-02-10T18:18:00.000-05:00Given the large number of hate filled bigots looki...Given the large number of hate filled bigots looking for ways to kill or destroy this President I can understand why his kids are in private school. Safety has to come first. As a parent, I would do the same in their shoes.

DJOAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-84731739320681108262009-02-10T10:50:00.000-05:002009-02-10T10:50:00.000-05:00Wally, there definitely are places for private sch...Wally, there definitely are places for private schools but unfortunately public figures who espouse public schools as the best way to achieve an education that will lead to future prosperity have no choice but to lead by example. If the public schools are so crappy you don't change them by avoiding them.Ben Burdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06372169478978720740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23948057.post-87482157045775894522009-02-10T09:38:00.000-05:002009-02-10T09:38:00.000-05:00When my son went to Budapest, Hungary, his last tw...When my son went to Budapest, Hungary, his last two years of elementary and first year of secondary, I made sure he went to a school that taught in both Hungarian and English. My Hungarian wife and myself both agreed that it would be best for my son to complete his secondary education in a private school which taught everything in English.

Hungarian is spoken by several million people, but English is the language of economics, technology, and the dominant dynamic culture of the planet. So I paid for private school to ensure he could swim in that larger ocean of opportunities.

I'm big on public schools, but recognize a place for private schools. I dislike funding ethnic identity, racial indentity, religious identity schools.

When in Canada my attended Alpha Alternative School http://schools.tdsb.on.ca/alpha/index-elem.htm which was part of the public school system in Toronto, but provided an ambience that was missing from my school experience: freedom, creativity, real diversity, individual responsibility.Wally (pain in the class) Keelerhttp://cobourgtown.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
