First day that we did not have to get up early so we all slept in. Doreen and I talk a walk along the street that runs through the tourist area. Lined with restos, massage parlours and trinket shops we walked looking for a barber’s shop – I need a trim. The place that I wanted to go to did not open until 11am so Doreen decided, on the fly, to have a pedicure and whilst I was walking around looking for water to buy I was accosted by a man who also figured I needed a trim and pointed me to his friend. He would do a haircut for five dollars cheaper than the first place. So after Doreen was done we found the barber’s place but the very small shop was full and we had to wait. Finally getting into the chair the barber asked me what number trim did I want. Well, I figured not knowing if Thai numbers were any different from mine I said “Four” which is normally the one I get done. Hmm #4 was a bit much so now I have quite the buzz cut.

Back to the hotel to enjoy the rest. Did I tell you that the rooms in this hotel are on the top floor and can only be reached by climbing a few flights of stairs as well as navigating a couple of elevators. There is no going back and forth to the rooms at our age!

When we got back to the room a ‘whatsapp’ message appeared from the tour organiser; there is a typhoon approaching the last place in Viet Nam we are going to stay at and tours have stopped operating. So we have to have a team meeting to discuss the alternatives she suggested. It will take place over Dinner at the Italian place across the road tonight.

OK decision made – we will stay in Ho Chi Minh City a day longer and come back to Bangkok a day earlier. All of those days will be free days so we will explore on our own.
