We had moved things around yesterday because of imminent rain in the Mekong Delta so we had the day to ourselves. Started with a walk around the hotel, the hotel is really central to most of the old town and there is plenty to see.

Coming across the tallest building in HCMC – the Bitexco Tower wikiref here we entered and on a whim decided to go to the observation deck – 49 stories high. Marvelous views of the City and the perfect way to spend an hour – see some of the views in the pics page. Our meanderings were interrupted by the rain, which at times was quite intense.

Anyway back to the hotel before going to see the “AO” show a sort of Cirque de Soleil but with a very Vietnamese slant. Lots of bamboo sticks and acrobatics combined with a very good light show produced entertainment for all. The best part of it all was that this performance was in the historic Opera House, a place that we wanted to look at anyway.

Before that we had decided to eat at “Eddie’s Deli” an American resto dressed up like a 50s diner complete with booths and murals. A piece of Wisconsin dumped into HCMC. Great food – a complete change from noodles and rice.
