Tips for a stay in PV
If I were to give advice to people wishing to travel to Puerto Vallarta I would say this:
- Find out what you want to do, look around, eat/drink the atmosphere, veg out, sit on the beach/pool
- Decide whereabouts you want to stay,
- downtown, the oldest part of PV filled with nightlife, cafes and restaurants. We only visit this area but have stayed there for short visits.
- hotel zone, this area is North of the downtown and is filled with resort hotels/all inclusives
- marina/airport area, is 20 minutes on the bus from downtown but is a community that everybody visits. It is filled with condos and restaurants.
- All inclusive, no meals or a place with a kitchen
I would check:
- Booking.com or any other booking site Trivago, hotels.com etc
- Airbnb.ca
- Expedia.ca
- Craig’slist
But when you find a place always check to see if it has its own website – it may be cheaper.
The place that fits your needs would be Puerta de Luna, a medium priced complex that rents all types of rooms – try that. Other places are Villa del Palmar (hotel zone), or the Flamingo or Comfort Inn (Marina)
Notes:
Do not be afraid of staying outside of the usual ‘tourist hangouts’ PV is very friendly, you can easily get around without any knowledge of the language and people will help you.
