On a related note, I think the fascist/P.C. element is alive and well here in Northumberland too.
At a recent meeting of the organization I work for, someone (staff, board, who knows who?)felt the need to decorate all the tables with a stern warning that said:
"Absolutely No Smoking On XXX Property - Not Even In Your Car.
Failure To Observe This Rule Will Result In Future Restriction From Any Other Events Hosted by XXX"
How's that for heavy handed, threatening, abusive and bullying behaviour?
Last time I looked, smoking was still a perfectly legal activity to pursue - it is purchased legally, taxed legally (and heavily), and quite legal to smoke as long as you're 18 years old or more.
I resent being treated like an unworthy criminal by my own employer, and I won't forget this anytime soon.
