This story has a local echo

At tonight's public unveiling of the latest playground - the harbour fountain and ice pond, I asked what was the history of this project. The answer I was given, by a member of Council who shall remain as an unnamed source, was that last October, the local MPP (our pal Lou) came to Cobourg and asked if he gave the Town some money, but not to be used on infrastructure, could the Town put it to use. Of course said the Leader of Bread and Circuses and guess what we now have funding for a fountain. All from Liberal coffers and of course nothing to do with the upcoming election or part of the ongoing Provincial mess that McGuinty finds himself in now. But what good is it to the Liberals if they keep their largesse a secret?

Won't Lou want to be cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony for the Thing?

Also, I agree with Ms. Mutton that the Thing should be examined from a planning point of view as well as just parks and rec. Clearly the boys just hate sharing their perceived power with That Woman!

I just wish she would curb her tendency to pomposity at Council. I suspect it's an unconscious attempt to fit in by aping the attitude of the boys, who are just brimming full of themselves at all times.
