Leading into the doldrums of summer
Expect these posts to be sporadic, we are now entering the summer hiatus for some and the natural slowdown of old age for others. Even Cobourg Council has published its summer schedule.
The waterfront park will be put to bed on Monday despite the number of pleas from concerned citizens to modify or scrap the project. It is clearly becoming obvious that delegations have little effect on this Council and really only serve the purpose of providing alternate opinion to a Council that hates that.
Expect the public meeting for the OPP costing to be scheduled for the most inconvenient time for the opposition, probably one week before the July Council meeting and further expect the deal to be wrapped up with a minimum of discussion by September and look forward to Fantino parading his 'black and whites' next January. Leaving us all with a huge bill for severances and retirement packages. Just my opinion of course. Meanwhile support your local police service!

I am a tax payer on King Street. I think my taxes are too high. In fact, I got a couple of descriptive words for how high they are. But I don't want a provincial force in town even if they could knock a whack off the price of local policing. The OPP are lovely people. I like all the officers. They are exceedingly professional. I would trust anyone of them on my case. But... In town I want my folks. I want those I know from whenever.
I want the cop that gave me the break for speeding one time when I was being stupid. I want the cop
whose face I see all the time at local coffee shops. I want the cop who lives here who I talk to regularly about everything other than cop issues on his time off because- funnily- I trust him because precisely he spends the time to talk to me. Also, BIG ISSUE, here... no no no to centralizing social force entities... not good.. must spread out the power..
must keep a balance...this is a no brainer..what's wrong with supporting local cops at the same time as we support local farmers?
