The four minute response works!
I couldn't have organised it any better, after extolling the virtues of the "four minute response" that the local police provide, at Council on Monday night, it happened.
A dispute between two feuding delegations - a local developer and an angry neighbour became unruly, the Mayor recessed Council and then when the disputants appeared to be becoming violent someone called the police. And within four minutes the officers appeared, without even sounding out of breath after ascending three flights of stairs two of Cobourg's finest entered the room. By that time the participants had calmed down and then the only thing that the officers could do was to determine if the assaulted one (he was barely touched but he claimed an assault had taken place) was going to lay charges and then they could leave.
Just another usual Council meeting!!

Did you not find it curious that Mr. Lee, who was not pre-approved according to the rigorously followed rules for delegations, was allowed to speak anyway?
Could any of us who aren't developers expect that kind of preferential treatment?
I don't think so. It was a disgusting display of toadying by our Council who are always ready to bend over for any developer who asks.
The four minute response time was fine. Two members of our police force showed up. The woman, who only appeared briefly, was correctly attired complete with hat. The man, to be honest, looked like private security and behaved like it, leaning against the door frame and chewing gum. In fact Mr. Lee appeared to be familiar with him so I wondered if he was private security. I was not impressed by that particular officer's demeanour when on duty.
