Blog activities have hit the mainstream
There is a raging debate going on in the 'blogosphere', the main topic is the war in Gaza. the backstory is the vehement, bilious and even hateful words being hurled at each other in cyberspace. The main offender, in the eyes of the righteous, has been a site called LibLogs. This site is an aggregation of posts that have been deemed to be Liberal, or leftleaning opinionators. This site has come under attack by pundits on the right. Kelly McParland of the national post has a column about this here. Ezra Levant, the genius in his own mind (my opinion), has been hurling quotes like this, "I haven't spent a lot of time digging through the muck in Liblogs.ca, but I've found a lot of anti-Israel propaganda, some of which crosses over into full-blown anti-Semitism." So there we have it in a capsule. If you speak against Israel you are an anti semite. Rather like the fatuous argument put out by the Cons when they said, "If you don't support the war in Afghanistan you are not supporting the troops". Doublespeak. Just like those who locally excoriate the frink opponents as being against public recreation. It happens all the time.
That is why I have refrained from speaking about the war in Gaza and the amount of force being used by Israel against Hamas. Let me tell you what bothers me:
- When Hamas won a legal, and US supported by the way, election the western world immediately repudiated the results and proceeded to starve the inhabitants by limiting the travel of goods.
- I don't know how to stop the volleys of rockets, that hardly ever result in any accuracy or casualties, but a ground war is not the answer. Perhaps the mythological Mossad could eliminate, in the middle of the night, the rocketeers?
- If the Israeli claim that the UN school that was exploded was "a result of an Hamas booby trap" quote from an Israeli spokswoman on the "National" last night is substantiated I will be able to suspend my belief that all Hamas aren't monsters willing to kill their own to make a point.
Perhaps we should be following the advice of Maj. Gen. Lew McKenzie when he advocates the insertion of a UN force mandated to keep the peace, by force if necessary. Something has to be done and if the Israelis aren't going to allow the free travel of food and fuel then they shouldn't be allowed to bomb the tunnels that provide food and fuel.
I am looking forward to the Michael Coren Show on CTS @ 8pm tomorrow when a regular table sitter - Sid Ryan of CUPE - sits down at the opinion table to defend his views that have been vilified in columns such as this here Funnily enough when I went back into Kay's postpage at the NP today this column and the next one the following day of the same ilk, have disappeared. MSM toning down the debate?

Lew MacKenzie's suggestion seemed most appropriate, especially that it be backed up with lethal force. Sadly, ain't gonna happen -- too much precedent of UN timidity and dithering.
Sid Ryan's initial press release said that he had received a boycott appeal from the "Palestinian Federation of Unions of University Professors and Employees." It is nothing more than a Potemkin village hoax. It has a pretend president, Dr. Amjad Barham.
Hamas represents the will of the Palestinian people which is to eliminate the Jewish state, if not now, then later. That is their objective.
Ezra's great on the free speech issue, but he is partisan as they come. He asserts, ""I haven't spent a lot of time digging through the muck in Liblogs.ca..." but that is what he is doing, seems every day now. But that kind of partisanshit comes from all pols, lib, dippy & cons & greens.
Mr Burd asserts that “Hamas won a legal election ... the western world immediately repudiated the results”. Yes that happened. Recall that Hitler’s political organ was also elected. If Mr Burd is consistent, then Hitler’s election should not have been repudiated, or perhaps it should have been repudiated.
Mr Burd believes that “all Hamas aren't monsters willing to kill their own to make a point.” Perhaps. No doubt there were a few honourable and good National Socialists in Germany as well. Below are a few videos that should put to rest the kind of government that the majority of Palestinian people have chosen to represent their true political intentions.
To be sure, tanks and bombardment will not stop the unrelenting dynamic that will eventually wear down Israel and there will be much rejoicing throughout the ummah when Israel ceases to exist.
If Canada placed several thousand peace makers (not keepers, because is no peace to keep, and never has been) between the Israelis & Palestinians, as Lewis MacKenzie suggests, we can be sure that the Highway of Heroes will be honoured with a daily stream of black limos. So the tough question begs to be asked: Are the Israeli & Palestinian people worth any blood from Canada?

Fathi Hamad, Member Palestinian Legislative Council, Hamas, spoke to a large crowd of Palestinians February 29, 2008. His speech was broadcast throughout Gaza on Al-Aqsa TV. He enunciates the glorious policy of using women, children and the elderly as human shields. It can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTu-AUE9ycs
Every Monday afternoon Al-Asqa TV broadcasts a children’s program called “The Gifted”. In a special episode marking the beginning of the school year, two-year old toddler named “Ahmad” was featured. Ahmad was praised by other children for his expertise in Jihad. It can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LaAvZp7EP4
It is so easy to use children as shields. They are ripe for the picking as in this example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J08GqXMr3YE&feature=related
Here we have little boys & girls dancing as jihadists & martyrs for their assembled parents at the end of the school year. Note the little girls wielding an AK47 & doll in her arms. It can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR8Tfd0i4lY
Oh sweet cuteness, we have a Mickey Mouse clone teaching children the way of Allah; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi-c6lbFGC4&feature=related
On the children’s TV series a bunny rabbit tells the Palestinian children that he will “eat the Jews.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm8w7_P8wZ0&feature=related
Finally, a deliberate propaganda assembly to rip your heart out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTGbP55HGi8
I think we can all agree that Israel is over-reacting but Hamas ignored the gentle response so they in effect asked for the extreme response. But they probably like all the pain and misery - it will send more martyrs to "paradise" and get world opinion on their side. It's like a mouse (Hamas) pricking the lion (Israel) with a pin and being surprised when the lion goes on a rampage. It's hard to sympathize with them - especially since they won't concede a compromise solution. It's Israel ceases to exist or they keep pricking with the pin. Talk about idiotic.
Hamas is compelled to do what its paymasters tell it to do. Iran.
Hezbollah does what its paymasters tell it to do. Iran.
The best/worst is yet to come and it won't be long. Israel can do whatever it wants, bomb the rubble or surrender everything outside the 67 borders -- it won't matter. Only the annihilation of the state of Israel will end it.
The political left has largely abandoned Israel, closely followed by the mainstream which has begun to tire of the eternal whine of the Jews, and the divine rapture of the Christian right will bear fruit.
The world's oldest hate-on, anti-Semitism, has returned to Europe.
