Finally we get the DM we want!

Has something happened at City Hall that we should know about? This would be a nice change of jobs, if it was to happen. I wonder what will happen to this graphic designer - blame the proofreader?

Ouch!, this is not something one wants to think about

Please be so kind and enlighten me as to what goes into the makeup of the "DM we want". I'm all eyes! Now, just to be fair, don't use another's qualities or qualifications to 'illustrate' the qualities you feel to be essential in the person you would declare to be the "DM we want"; list the actual details that constitute the perfect DM. Then we'll have something to go on when we go looking for the next one. I hope this is not going to be disappointingly vague.

! As the budget chief the DM should be able to whiz around the numbers and explain them in simple terms
2. The DM should be committed to at least a zero increase budget
3. Be open and honest with the taxpayers' money. In other words using the revenue from the Town's assets as "play money" should not be tolerated. That money should go into the bottom line and not kept out of the operating budget.
4. Should be the taxpayers' watch dog instead of the staff's favourite person to get them the money that they think they need to conduct their programs.

In closing the DM should project an image of a tightfisted meanie with our money and should not tolerate tax increases and in fact demonstrate that he has control of spending by introducing a budget that actually cuts spending programs. If the rest of Council wants to keep those programs then they should be prepared to demonstrate why we should have increases not decreases.
