First of all, congratulations to Bob Spooner

So the "dinosoar" has pulled the plug! Congratulations to Bob for his public service. Read this story for the details
Now the fun begins, who will be the first to declare for the vacancy? Many names come to mind but it will probably be someone we have never heard of. That's good because whoever declares will need the time to develop a profile. You don't get one by hanging out in the backrooms of City Hall filling a committee seat.

So let's have BurdReport special - who do you want to run for Council? Nominations are open, just mail the names in and I will setup a special tracking page.

Bob has served our community for a long time and he deserves our thanks for all his hard work.

It is no small accomplishment to recognise when it's time to go either. It was a wise decision, one that some of the other old timers might want to consider.

You'd need a powerful crowbar to separate some of the sitting from their chairs.

The singularly appalling John Floyd is seriously -and I mean SERIOUSLY- putting together a plan to run for mayor in Port Hope. Again.

There is this factor, you see, the factor that says, in its simplest form, It's A Job And I Need A Job.

I happen to believe that factor is responsible for 80% of the elected officials in Cobourg, Port Hope, Northumberland County, the Townships and points, places and positions most of us haven't even considered yet. Ergo, it is the highest level and the most dignified welfare an otherwise unemployable individual could collect.

Those who wish to take issue with my comments and heap praise upon our representitives are invited to help fill the phone booth at Walton and Ontario Streets at 8PM Friday night for a celebratory bash.

Unfortunately, I can't make it. I have to sort my socks.
