Is this the end of the Rinaldi regime?

Lou Rinaldi has been coasting and it shows. A pathetic defence of Provincial decisions and a lacklustre performance in the recent Hospital cuts debate has not helped his image a a dynamic MPP, but what did?
With Lou's performance in the background the shocking announcement from Brighton's Mayor, Christine Herrington, that she has pulled her nomination papers from the 2010 election speculation will abound about her motives.
So are the two circumstances related? There has always been a rumour that CH wants to be more than a small town Mayor and she even participated in the Federal Liberal nomination contest.
Our money is on Lou announcing that he will not run again early next year, CH grabbing the brass ring and going for the election in 2011

While on Lib politics - on a trip downtown yesterday morning  bumped into candidate Kim Rudd. Complete with a guy following her around with a camcorder on a tripod she was gladhanding at the Farmers' Market. Wonder where Rick Norlock is these days, sitting pretty on his newly acquired pension he probably doesn't care much? As long as he carries his blackberry ready to receive the latest talking points from the propaganda centre, it doesn't matter where he is the message will still get out.

Lou has alreasdy announced publicly he is definetly running in the next election. There is no connection whatsoever between C. Herrington standing down and Lou.

I would wager it has more to do with 3 members of her Council going to the press conference of the firast person to announce they are running against her Mr. Walas.
Also hasway more to do with her embarrasing debacle in signing a committment for Brighton to $ 500, 000 to Quinte Healthcare and the fundraising team holding her to it.
Wishful thinking for his detractors that Lou will not run again he will be and he will be winning again.

We'll see what the local liberal hacks have to say about this post.

Doesn't seem to me like Herrington is exactly shining in her current job. Recent stories of ongoing debacles in town planning, flooding issues, the folly of rejecting free signage because it was in French, and the famous pledging of half a million to some health care facility (oops) would suggest she can't even run a tiny town efficiently.

Maybe she'd do less damage as an MPP though, and with Lil Loo as her predecessor, the bar is set rather low.

I remember speaking with CH before her first run for mayor. She had not considered running for anything but another council seat at that time. A trip to the UK to scatter a family member's ashes, and a lot of time to think later, she threw her hat in Brighton's mayoral race. I supported her without reservation then; I would not do so today. CH has made tremendous mistakes as Brighton's mayor, and has shown little in the way of true leadership. One example is her refusal to bury the Prince Edward St over/underpass once and for all; another is her wishy-washy stance on the proposed plaza development near the existing No Frills that would see the community's first Tim Horton's outlet; yet a third, and perhaps most damaging failure as a mayor was her almost cavalier attitude about "not reading everything" that crosses her desk, after it was learned she'd pledged $500K to the Quinte hospital campaign on behalf of Brightonians, when council was looking at $50K tops. CH has also been told by local Libs, quite clearly during her bid to be the chosen one to take on Rick Norlock, that she is NOT what they're looking for as a federal rep. And now you say she may be working with Lying Lou to fill his rather undersized, underused shoes as our provincial rep? Give it a rest, Chris. Concentrate on your family and friends, and sail off into the sunset as a retiring Brighton mayor. And let's face it, even if you were successful in replacing Lou, what exactly are you going to brag about, given his pitiful track record as our MPP?

the first Anon posting on here speaks to the mindset of the provincial and local Libs. the arrogance and belief that they will automatically win is but only one reason so many in this riding are turned off by their party and the representatives of their party.

Add in the fact that the entire message written is barely comprehensible, one wonders if it was not written by our illustrious mpp himself!

No, just think Lou will win. Nothing arrogant at all just my prediction. Sorry for the previous typos etc.
