If it wasn't so bloody stupid it would be ludicrous
Minister Day, the man who believes the earth is only 6,000 years old, did it again yesterday - said something completely preposterous. The problem is that this statement is used to spend a whack of tax money. He justified the spending of money on new prisons because crime stats are not reliable, therefore we have to handle the influx of criminals, because of the number of 'unreported crimes'. Taken to its extreme we will build prisons to house the perpetrators of 'unreported crimes'. The problem is if they, the crimes, are unreported how do we trace the perpetrators to put them in prison?

There are so many discrepancies in the thought processes and policies of the Harper "Conservative” Party that it would take a book to list them and it would be frustrating reading.
The easier position is to realize that almost everything they say will be garbage, and then if they do say something sensible it will be a pleasant surprise.
Meanwhile, on the action front, take positive and realistic steps to see that an alternative gets elected next time.
The 12 letters-to-the-editor that showed up in this morning's Globe&Mail were all highly critical of Stockwell Day's latest act of stupidity. Two referenced Alice In Wonderland to illustrate their point. Mine was not one of them.
I merely asked whether or not when he made the announcement about rates of unreported crime being 'alarming', did he show up wearing a wetsuit on the back of a Sea-Doo?
Globe readers should be told, don't you think?
The trouble is that cretins - the harpercrits - wear these letters as badges of honour
Conservatives are running -some say 'ruining' the country.
Conservatives are running -I say 'ruining'- Port Hope.
Rick Norlock -The Backbencher's Backbencher- has done absolutely nothing for the riding. His big bald dome is so far up Harper's ass he hasn't seen daylight in four years. He wouldn't say shit if he had a mouthful -especially about Ducklips Day's grandiose plans for more prisons, a plan based on no statistics, no studies, no nothing except MAWF -Middle Aged White Fear -the driving force behind Conservativism in all it's cancerous forms. Fear of taxes, fear of unions, fear of children, fear of travelling carnivals, of new ideas, accents, hair-do's, art, intellect, homosexuals, environmentalists, marijuana, the CBC. They sit alone behind lace curtains waiting for the Eaton's truck to show up with a new Admiral 17" Console Television hoping Lawrence Welk hasn't gone modern on them. Stephen Harper gives them hope that maybe the '60's won't happen and even if they do, Stockwell Day can lock up all the hippies before things get out of hand. They swear on a stack of Fraser Institute reports that if Dief were here he'd straighten things out and put that smart-mouthed colored chappie in his place in a hurry, that's for sure. And then maybe he'd do something about the Cobourg beach on weekends where it's nigh on impossible to find a shady spot for the Packard anymore -let alone getting any of those awful 'visitors' to scrub the hubcaps or polish the hood ornament.
Yes, it's all about fear. Fear and loathing. And it isn't going away anytime soon. Why? Because we LIKE to be afraid. We like to think we have a common enemy far more than we like to think we have common friends. We're herd animals and right now we're circling in the pasture of fear because night is falling and a lemming one-one-hundredth our own size is running around our feet, a lemming we should have stomped on months ago, telling us to be afraid.
And we're listening. Boy -are we listening....
If anyone knows how well doom sells, it's Merk! But, nobody buys "doom dolls", they all go for the familiar "Polyanna doll" when it comes time to take it home with them.
Ever notice how it's only stupid people (and Conservatives) who go ad hominem right off the bat -like goody2shoes just did?
It's because they can't offer an opinion or mount a challenge to someone else's opinion so, much in the manner of the way they spank their kids for spilling the milk they need for their morning brekkie of a bowl of Prozac and milk with a little banaba sliced on top, they get personal. They'll never change.
Don't forget to add women to the tory list of things to fear. Nothing is scarier than women, and when it comes to unreported crime, tories know in their guts that they're all crimes commited by women.
We all know the truth that it's women who assault their poor defenseless spouses, who are too scared to report it because if the wife is thrown in jail, who'd make their sandwiches for them?
Now that's really scary.
the Merk says "They'll never change." but forgets to say why they should, or recommend to what they should change. With all that opinion gushing forth like a blown-out oil-well, it's kinda disappointin'
See. That's what Conservative lurkers like tryingtomakesense do; they derail a whole thread from it's initial message -that Stockwell Day is an incompetent fool chosen by a bully to carry the foolish message to the masses in the hope that it will sell. Well, it didn't sell. Not here or anywhere else. But if the Cons can call in the local standard bearers to smear the distainers of the message then maybe the stupidity of the message will be lost in the argument. Sorry tryingtomakesense -but you're not making any sense at all. Neither is Stockwell Day. That said I admire your efforts. I admire your boiler room resolve at attacking anyone with an opinion contrary to the Party. It can't be easy these days.
Now then; how about my personal habits? Sanitation? Toe nails? Inability to empathise with Conrad Black? My closet is full of leftish skeletons and I'd be more than happy to put some skin on their bones at your request.
Trouble is -none of this is about me. Unless you relentlessly continue to make it about me.
Merklin said "Ever notice how it's only stupid people (and Conservatives) who go ad hominem right off the bat -like goody2shoes just did?" and "See. That's what Conservative lurkers like tryingtomakesense do; they derail a whole thread from it's initial message"
if one reads the original post and then reads Merklin's comment, they would be hard pressed to see how the comment follows the message of the original thread, in particular, "Conservatives are running -I say 'ruining'- Port Hope.
Rick Norlock -The Backbencher's Backbencher- has done absolutely nothing for the riding. His big bald dome is so far up Harper's ass he hasn't seen daylight in four years. He wouldn't say shit if he had a mouthful... ending with "They swear on a stack of Fraser Institute reports that if Dief were here he'd straighten things out and put that smart-mouthed colored chappie in his place in a hurry, that's for sure. And then maybe he'd do something about the Cobourg beach on weekends where it's nigh on impossible to find a shady spot for the Packard anymore -let alone getting any of those awful 'visitors' to scrub the hubcaps or polish the hood ornament."
As for getting personal, do you mean comments like "His big bald dome", "Ducklips Day'", "These inbred assholes", "Happy-Faced mutual back scratching morons", (some recent examples)?
Seems Merklin has a bit of difficulty keeping his own counsel. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.
