I guess the election is over for some!!!
The opinion is in - Northumberland News has made its picks! Proposing that the status quo be maintained in the strongest possible way what does that say for the News's progressivism? Endorsing all of the incumbents and then playing it safe by putting the strongest woman candidate on and saying that Stan Frost should be on because he only lost by a few votes last time does not do it for me.
I strongly disagree; that this slate is anything but a change, but then if you don't want change go for it.

Hi Ben
Sorry to see your not on the slate this year. Just a note .. on your candidate chart you have omitted Bridget Campions web site http://www.campionformayor.ca/ you rright about a slow start and middle but maybe a better finish.
Cheers ... (I'm enjoying your stuff)

Thanks for the kind words, Dave. As you know the lack of a proper pay structure kept good people off the list, pity. But however I hope that selfishness will overcome the fear of loudmouth voters and Council will address this subject sometime in the next four years (probably just after the election when they can hope that the voters' memories are short). A few weeks ago I had a conversation about this with a very senior Cobourg politician. He said, "Who on Council would vote for this? You'd have Ron Kerr all over you!" I wonder if Ron realises how scared this Council is of him.

The existing Council could do everybody a favour and vote on the issue of "full time or part time" and the appropriate pay level before they leave office. If the incumbents are as smart as they claim to be they should be able to deal with this issue and not leave it to the new "four year gang" whoever they might be.
