Aren't you glad Burlington gets this event?

The world's largest Ribfest is going on as we speak, but in Burlington.
Wikipedia post:

Canada's Largest Ribfest is an annual festival held in Spencer Smith Park by the lake shore in the Town of Burlington, Ontario. It was started in 1995 by The Burlington Lakeshore Rotary Club. The Ribfest runs for four days during the Labour Day weekend. In 2008 over 130,000 visitors attended the event.

Over 90,000 pounds of ribs were sold in 2006 and over 131,000 people attended in 2005. Fifteen "Rib teams" from across North America attend yearly. Over $1.2 million dollars has been raised over the last 10 years.[1][2].

Luscious food for thought, Ben. A fantastic business opportunity for the community! Simply convince Toronto people to go one hour east to Cobourg instead of one hour west to Burlington and we too could have 100000 people! And they can get their ribs two weeks ahead of Labour Day! And our beach facilities are another fantastic draw! And the costs for park maintenance, sanitary issues, policing, traffic control, etc. are absorbed! And so it looks like we're getting a great return on our investment! We can do this, people!

There's yet another of these Rotary sponsored gluttony fests in Oshawa this week.

Just shows, I think, the depth of imagination -or complete lack thereof- of The Cult Of Rotary.

Hey. Why don't the rest of us hold an annual Rotary De-Programming Festival on the same weekend as the Big Pig Out?

I would be grateful for any Rotarty de-programming offered, but promise me we can at least eat some ribs while we're doing it.
