The deadline to get your paperwork into the Ontario Land Tribunal if you have any concerns about the Second St. high rise proposal is tomorrow. One can participate in two ways: “A party is directly involved in the appeal process and has full participatory rights, including filing submissions, presenting evidence, and questioning witnesses, while a participant has an interest in the outcome but is limited to submitting written statements unless otherwise specified. Both party and participant statuses require submitting a request at least 10 calendar days before the first hearing event.”
But there is another way to get one’s opinion into the process. Letters of concern can be sent to the OLT and the named lawyers before the deadline. We at the BR are doing this because we cannot be in the actual process because of a prior engagement. Letters of concern will be part of the background demonstrating public opinion and may be used by the lawyers in their work.
- Write an email or preferably a letter stating who you are and why you object/support the proposal quote the case numbers – OLT-26-000865 & OLT-26-000853
- email it to jessica.hampton@ontario.ca – the temporary case coordinator, the case coordinator quoted in the official notice has been replaced
- email the law firms involved – apilkington@cassels.com & nvickers@cassels.com (202 Second St.) and dneligan@airdberlis.com (Town’s lawyer)
- One should also email Council and the Town Clerk.

If you want to get your written submission entered into the hearing and get yourself or an organisation listed as a participant fill out this form and email it to the above addresses and be prepared to participate in the online Case Management Conference.
The notice gives a notice of the online conference – a screenshot below click on the image to join.
