Boy when you have lost Pete Fisher (PF) in the local Police milieu you know that something is wrong in Politics. We know that PF has had his media disputes with the Cobourg Police Services and the Board in the past, mainly because of the lack of details/ disclosure of info in local crime. He has complained/whined about these inactions in the past because he writes an article and then calls it an editorial, as opposed to one of his usual posts.
His latest editorial read it here has two points: one is a call to go to the OPP for local Municipal Policing because the local service is lacking in many ways and the other is a call to fix the local drug scene as far as the supply chain is concerned. It may be a coincidence but two days ago I wrote the same thing, a post about the local drug scene and challenged PF to do a story about it. No story but still the same questions, this time coming from him.
After reading his editorial I have two things to say; good on PF for writing it and secondly if he thinks we can get the same level of service, which we admit, at the moment, is pretty poor, at the same price from the OPP he must be in ‘cloud cuckoo land’. With the OPP guaranteed by Doug Ford and his buddies that the OPP will be the highest paid cops in Ontario and written into law, salary costs alone will guarantee a cheaper service will never happen – no matter how many special services are promised.
So my advice to PF, and I know he will never take it, in fact it might pain him to read this because of the enmity he throws at me on social media, is to keep it up. Perhaps he can get his pals at Rebel Media to send the Menzoid to do a story about the inefficiency of eliminating/controlling the local drug supply. But that would put a spotlight on the inability of the OPP to do anything about it as well.
As they say “No publicity is bad publicity” so let’s all complain about the inefficiency of the Police Services in general (all of them) in stifling the drug supply problem – no matter who writes about it!
